Recipe Ham Corn Chowder
Stir milk mixture into vegetable mixture.
Recipe ham corn chowder. Cook on low for about 15 minutes but do not boil. Cover and process until pureed. Add chicken broth potatoes oregano thyme and bay leaf and season with salt and pepper to taste slightly under season with salt as the ham and bacon will add more saltiness to soup.
Bring to a boil over high heat then reduce heat to low and simmer covered for one hour. Add the ham bone and the water to a large stockpot. Add onion carrot and celery and saute until tender about 4 minutes.
In a large pot melt 1 1 2 tbsp butter over medium heat. Simmer for 10 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Place 1 2 cup milk and 2 cups corn in a blender.
Slowly add 1 cup milk stirring constantly. Heat through stirring frequently. In a large saucepan combine soup and milk.
Bring to a boil. Add ham and remaining corn. Stir in the flour and stir until well blended then gradually add milk.
Season soup with salt and pepper. Cook over medium high heat until potatoes are softened 30 to 45 minutes. Add the ham and sauté for 1 2 minutes until nicely browned.
