Recipe Ham Hocks And Collard Greens
Roughly chop the meat and return to the greens.

2 quarts 1 9l homemade chicken stock low sodium store bought chicken broth or water. 1 1 2 pounds 680g meaty smoked ham hocks see note 2 medium yellow onions about 1 pound. Add the collard greens to a slow cooker with the onion ham hocks brown sugar pepper salt apple cider vinegar and chicken broth.
2 hocks smoked ham hocks 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar 2 tablespoons whole black peppercorns 2 bunches collard greens rinsed trimmed and chopped. Trim and discard any fat and bones. 4 medium cloves garlic crushed.
Remove the ham hocks from the slow cooker. Place the pot over medium high heat and start adding in the collard greens. Pile the greens on top of each other and cut into long strips.
Then cut the strips. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours until the greens are tender. Once all of the collard greens are in the pot add in the onions peppers garlic and seasonings.
