Reduce heat to low. Put the potatoes and garlic in a large saucepan and cover with cold water by at least an inch. Cover and boil gently simmer 15 to 20 minutes or until potatoes are fork tender.
Add tang with a touch of creme fraiche sour cream or splash of buttermilk. Add a generous amount of salt to the pan i use 1 2 tbsp. Turn off the heat transfer potatoes to a large bowl.
Bring to a boil and cook until the potatoes are tender about 20 minutes. In 3 quart saucepan place potatoes. Place the potatoes and garlic in a medium sauce pan and cover with cold water.
